Elle sitting. Westport Animal Control

Elle is a very affectionate, one-year-old boxer-pit mix that just arrived at Westport Animal Control (203-341-5076). When she is not wiggling and playing, she is a big-time leaner.  She loves belly rubs, ear scratches, chest rubs, back scratches … all result in doggie joy. Elle is very curious about all her new friends and follows you around while taking in everything with her big brown eyes. We like to provide a running monologue as things are done at the shelter because she seems to understand as she turns her head from side to side. Her crooked bottom lip may not win her any beauty points but certainly enhances all her endearing qualities. Elle is spayed and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Please call soon to schedule a time to meet this sweet girl.

Rookie. Westport Animal Control

Rookie is a sweet and gentle 1-year-old lab mix (Pointer-Lab) that is looking for his home team now that he’s arrived in Westport. He has spent his life in a southern shelter and is ready for the good life. He was brought to a shelter as a pup with his litter mates but this quiet boy was passed over in favor of the females in the litter and with an abundance of labs looking for adoption down south, he didn’t have much of a chance. He is fabulous with other dogs and is happy to share his space. He lights up when the tennis ball comes out!  He is a star at the dog park and stays right with you while walking on the trails. Rookie is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. If you are interested in finding out more about this new guy in town, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Rookie is not at Westport Animal Control.

Molly. Save Our Strays

Molly is labeled as a Shih Tzu/Wirehaired Terrier mix … we are not really positive what type of dog she is but we DO know that without a doubt she is one of the cutest, sweetest, most gentle dogs we have ever met. She is a true mutt with big light brown eyes and a chocolate nose. Molly was given up by her family in NYC due to “personal problems.” We cannot imagine why anyone would give up such a sweet dog. You can see it in her eyes—all she wants is a family to love her. Her prior owners said she is housebroken and she loves other dogs. Molly is about 1 year old, spayed, and up-to-date on all of her shots. At just under 12 pounds she is the perfect little lady waiting for her forever home!  If you are interested in adopting Molly, please call Save Our Strays at 203-255-0514, e-mail at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), or visit their web site at www.saveourstraysinc.petfinder.com for hours and directions.

Jillie (photo net yet available) is a gorgeous 3-year-old black lab currently residing at Westport Animal Hospital (841 Post Road, 203-227-4117) where she was abandoned.  Jillie is a sweet and affectionate girl that quickly warms to anyone willing to give her attention. She gets along fabulously with other dogs.  We believe she was kept indoors all day long and will need someone willing to gently introduce her to the joy of being a lovely lab running with the other dogs at a Connecticut park or beach. Please call soon to meet Jillie, a wonderful dog looking for a second chance.

Hombre is an adorable 1-year-old Jack Russell mix at Westport Animal Control (203-341-5076). Abel. Westport Animal Control

Abel is an extremely handsome and serene collie-shepherd mix of approximately 3-years-of-age and a new resident of Westport Animal Control (203-341-5076). He is well trained, housebroken, and walks very well on a leash. We believe he was a victim of over-crating, and we would like to see him go a home where he will be treated to long luxurious walks and given a second chance with someone that will treat him as a star and beloved pet. Because of his size (approximately 75 pounds) and initial timidness, a home with older children (12+) would be the best situation for him. Abel is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. Please call soon to meet this wonderful boy.
