Staples Boys Soccer Stuns Greenwich 3-1
The Staples boys soccer team stunned undefeated, unscored-upon Greenwich with three first-half goals today, en route to a 3-1 victory at Albie Loeffler Field in Westport.
The win, in the Wreckers’ third game in five days, ups their record to 3-0-1. On Monday they start another tough week with an away match at St. Joseph (3:45 p.m.).
All three goals featured fine teamwork. The first, in the 23rd minute, began when feisty midfielder Matt Lamb headed the ball forward to Chris Meinke, who laid off to Charlie Reiter.
The junior playmaker quickly fed classmate Ross McGibney, who easily touched it home.
It’s Another Wrapp

The Staples boys soccer team scored three minutes into sudden-death overtime Monday, edging Fairfield Warde 2-1 at the losers’ home field.
