Staples Boys Soccer Stuns Greenwich in FCIAC Quarterfinals

Staples-Greenwich is a classic boys soccer matchup. The Cardinals are two-time defending FCIAC champions, eliminating Staples both times in the quarterfinals. Earlier this year, they shut out the Wreckers 2-0. But Staples earned revenge today in front of a large, boisterous Loeffler Field crowd. Nick DiMasi picked up a loose ball in the 10th minute, and finished low and hard. That was the only goal Staples needed, en route to a solid 1-0 win. Austin Sholes, Matthew Tanzer, Nick Ambrose, Surya Balaji and Patricio Perez Elorza also shined, in a team effort win. The Wreckers play in the FCIAC semifinals on Monday at Fairfield Ludlowe High.
