There is an almost 17 percent drop in inventory from July, when at one point there were 345 properties on the market.
There is also a 5 percent drop in available homes from just last week, which shows an additional decline from 60 days ago when we first reported the seasonal easing of single family homes available for sale.
However, this lessening of inventory should not be any cause for concern.

Jeera, Little Thai Kitchen, will open at 165 Post Road East, next to Finalmente Trattoria, within a month, according to owner Darapon Souri Vong (above). A Branford resident who said her friends call her by her nickname, Pook, she said she also operates a restaurant by the same name in New Haven, which she opened three years ago. “I learned my cooking skills and the restaurant business from my parents,” she said, adding she worked for 10 years at their Thai restaurant in Guilford. Souri Vong said the 900-square foot restaurant will, in addition to have seating for 20 to 30, offer take-out and catering services. “Our specialties are curry and noodle dishes,” she said. Real Estate Report: Not Enough New Homes
By Judy Szablak
Just over 26 percent of all available homes for sale in Westport are under five years old. Interesting dilemma seeing that many buyers are clamoring for new construction, or newly built homes.

There are just not enough newer homes to meet demand, and buyers sometimes feel that they have to settle for an older home, which really shouldn’t be the case.
In fact, out of the 190 homes currently on the market that were built prior to 2000, many of them have a great flow that is quite relevant to today’s floor plans and lifestyle needs.
Often times, homes that were built in the 1960s or ‘70s are passed over initially because a buyer wants something newer. However it is important to remember that the majority of these homes have been remodeled , and some of them from top to bottom.

Built in 1951, the 1-3/4-story cape has 1,895 square feet and is situated on a 1.3-acre property. Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
