It was another record setting day today for Staples senior Henry Wynne. At the 68th annual New England Interscholastic Championships in New Britain, he cruised to the nation’s No. 2 clocking in the 800-meter run, winning convincingly with a time of 1 minute, 49.93 seconds. Fellow Staples entrant Hannah DeBalsi, a freshman, ran a 10:10:24 3,200, placing her fourth in the country. She, Henry, and several other athletes from Staples will travel to Greensboro, N.C. next month to compete against the best runners from the country. To qualify for today’s meet, athletes first had to finish in the top five in their state class (LL) and then finish top six in the state open (all six classes combined). Also at New Britain, the 4x800m relay consisted of Walker Marsh, Peter Elkind, Luis Cruz, and Patrick Nolan; the 4x400m relay consisted of Walker Marsh, Henry Wynne, Jack Scott and Tucker Rizzi.
