The signs on the doors and window tell the story—Ship’s Corner Chinese Take Out, a downtown Westport presence for 20 years, is closing this week. Owner Johnny Wong said his landlord gave him notice last month and he is looking for another location after two decades at 23 Jesup Road opposite the Westport Public Library. The restaurant’s last day is Thursday. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photos

How sad!
Will there be any businesses left in Westport that don’t belong to a big name chain? Between the small Mom & Pop stores and restaurants being forced to close due to landlords seeing big bucks in more “prestigious” tenants, and the charming character of older homes being bulldozed for the overdone and bland “estates” – Westport is losing what made it a special town in the first place.
We will miss Johnny Wong and his great staff. Best of luck in finding a new location!
By far the best Chinese food – and the most modestly priced – in Westport. This will be a great loss for Westport unless the Ship’s Corner Two finds a new location – and soon! Don’t keep us waiting too long, Mr. Wong!
