WestportNow Teardown of the Day: 8 Vani Court

WestportNow.com Image
An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 8 Vani Court, off Compo Road South, is in process. Built in 1945, the 1-1/4-story cape has 1,188 square feet, is situated on a .22-acre property and changed ownership in July 2013 for $380,000. Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

  1. Don’t hold me to this, but this might be one of the last remaining houses built by the govt for the returning soldiers from WWII in Westport. Any one know of others?

Vani Ct was an entire street of them. This was a great program to help soldiers settle down and start a life after serving their country.
