WestportNow Teardown of the Day: 66 Hillandale Road

An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 66 Hillandale Road, opposite the Green’s Farms Congregational Church, is in process. Built in 1950, the one-story ranch has 2,116 square feet and is situated on a .76-acre property. This is the second house in this Green’s Farms neighborhood that is slated for demolition.
The second home is on Church Street South which is the old Kowalksy homestead.
It is sad that both of these homes will soon be the victims of the wrecking ball. I live in the neighborhood and was afraid that eventually these small homes with their unique charm would meet such a demise.
Does the Westport Historic Commission realize that the charm of Green’s Farms will soon be a forgotten memory?
