WestportNow Teardown of the Day: 14 Hillandale Road

An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 14 Hillandale Road, off Hillspoint Road, is in process. Built in 1927, the two-story mansion has 4,342-square feet, is situated on a 4.58-acre property and, according to assessor records, changed ownership in April 2018. The purchase price was not published. Because the house was built more than 50 years ago, the application will be reviewed by the Westport Historic District Commission. The property was formerly owned by the late A.E. Hotchner. The editor, novelist, playwright, and biographer died in February.  (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
