An application for a permit to demolish the house at Westport’s 120 Kings Highway North has been approved. Built in 1948, the 1-1/2-story cape has 1,405 square feet, is situated on a .78-acre property and changed ownership in March 2014 for $565,000. Because the property is located within the Kings Highway North Historic District, the demolition permit application required a “certificate of appropriateness” review by the Historic District Commission (HDC) and, according to HDC secretary Carol Leahy, was approved with the stipulation that any new construction also requires HDC approval.
