Today marks the fifth anniversary of WestportNow.com, one of the pioneering local news Web sites in the United States.
From a small audience of several hundred a month when it first began, WestportNow currently attracts between 30,000 and 40,000 “unique” visitors a month and generates about 200,000 page views, according to independent Web traffic monitors.
The surge in readership is consistent with the results of a just released Zogby poll which found a continuing shift away from traditional sources of news, such as newspapers and TV, to the Internet, most dramatically among so-called digital natives, people under 30 years old.

It was three years ago this past October that I moved from Westport to Florida but a day does not go by when i don’t start my day without going to westportnow.com and checking out what’s happening in my beloved Westport.
Congratulations WestportNow.com and keep up the great work.
Congratulations, WestportNow, on your fifth anniversary. Where would Westporters be without our daily fix of an up-to-the-minute report of what’s happening in our town?
