Westporter Califano Talks About ‘Mirror Media’

Westport resident Joseph A. Califano, Jr. tonight discussed his new book, “Our Damaged Democracy,” before an overflow crowd at the Westport Woman’s Club. The event was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Westport and the Westport Library. The former U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare and one-time top aide to President Lyndon Johnson elicited laughter from the audience when he referred to “mirror media,” which he said is designed to mirror its viewer base. He added, “You no longer need to listen to any news that doesn’t agree with you.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
