Despite the collapse of Washington Mutual, the nation’s biggest bank failure ever, and the sale of its assets to JPMorgan Chase, it was business as usual today at the Washington Mutual branch on Westport’s Post Road West. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

  1. By, “Business As Usual”, do you mean, writing loans to people with no credit worthiness, no steady employment, no income verification, borrowing the down payment, pay what you like on an interest only loan. Then selling the worthless paper as complex investments to other financial wizards. Funny thing is, every “Ordinary Joe” with nothing more then an 8th grade education could of told you the bottom would fall out on that house of cards!

Now for the really, really funny part, they want us to bail them out with our hard earned money! That’s right, give these same financial genius’ more money to “fix” a problem that they created.

I would ask where was Senator Dodd, Chairman of the Banking and Housing Committee, but I know where he was, in Iowa for a year getting 1% of the vote and over $500,000. from Fanny & Freddy!

Yeah the headline is right, Business As Usual!

  2. A post script to my above post – Alan Fishman, CEO of WaMu, who’s only been on the job for less than three weeks, is bailing out with a parachute worth close to $20 million (according to an executive compensation analysis conducted for the New York Times by James F. Reda Associates).

That’s right, $20 million for 17 days on the job!
