The Westport Inn received the Operational Excellence and Market Excellence Awards at the recent annual meeting of Meyer Jabara Hotels, and Lance Herman, general manager, was honored as Manager of the Year.
Meyer Jabara, a Danbury-based company, operates The Westport Inn as well as 24 other hotels in 12 states.
The awards were an impressive victory for the Inn because the management team has been in place only 17 months, according to an announcement.
Benenson Capital Partners, owners of The Westport Inn, hired Meyer Jabara Hotels in August 2003 to manage the property.
The Westport Inn won the Operational Excellence Award for substantial improvements in revenues and profits in 2004.
It won the Market Excellence award for its success on retaining a more significant share of room nights and revenue generated among all the hotels in its market place.
These two honors, combined with guest satisfaction scores and staff associate feedback, earned the Inn the third award as General Manager Lance Herman was named Manager of the Year for 2004.
The Meyer Jabara Hotels roster of properties include the Stamford Marriott, the Hilton at Southbury, and the Mt. Kisco Holiday Inn among its Marriotts, Hiltons, Sheratons, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn brands as well as several independent hotels.
The Westport Inn, located at 1595 Post Road East in Westport, recently renovated its 115 rooms and increased its services available to business travelers.
