Trumbull Edges Staples Boys Soccer In Penalty Kicks in FCIAC Semifinal

The Staples boys soccer team battled Trumbull through 100 minutes of scoreless soccer tonight, in the FCIAC semifinal at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. The match came down to penalty kicks -– and the second-seeded Eagles prevailed over third-ranked Staples, 3-1. It was a devastating end for the Wreckers, who had fallen 1-0 to the Eagles earlier in the season en route to a 12-2-4 mark. Staples begins its quest for the school’s 13th state championship next week. Pictured: some of the large crowd cheering Staples on in Fairfield. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Armelle Daniels for WestportNow.com
