The first in a series of programs at the Westport Public Library called “Insights From Entrepreneurs: Creating and Growing Businesses That Thrive” began tonight with successful entrepreneur, longtime Westporter Doug Bernstein. The co-owner with his wife Melissa of Wilton-based Melissa and Doug toy manufacturers was interviewed by Journalist and NPR reporter Alison Freeland in the McManus Room. Bernstein noted that he once interned for Jim McManus, the former Marketing Corp. of America CEO for whom the room is named. “He was a great influence in my life,” Bernstein said. “Now 25 years later I am talking to you here in the McManus Room.” Of his career choice, he said: “I always wanted to be in education. I wanted to do things for children. So did Melissa.” (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Phyllis Groner for WestportNow.com
