Thursday Farmers Market Moving to Winslow Park

Westport Farmers Market
The threat of rain did not deter Westport Farmers Market customers today. Beginning Thursday, July 12, the Playhouse Farmers Market will be located in Winslow Park just to the right of the Country Playhouse entrance into the park. The new locale is an experiment and, if all goes well, the change will become permanent. The new location provides additional parking. The Sunday Market will continue at the Senior Center. 1. Please note everyone: Parking for the Market will remain at the Westport Country Playhouse Parking Lot!!! There is very restricted parking at Winslow, as everyone knows. The idea here is to get the market on the grass as we all enjoy Sunday’s venue so much, to free up more spots in the Playhouse lot, and hopefully, to be able to accommodate more vendors. Next Thursday will be an experiment to see how it works—but PLEASE!!, continue to park in the Playhouse Lot. The vendors will be located right on the other side of the lot.

And also—while we all love dogs, we cannot have them in the market. This is a regulation of the Health District. There have been incidents of dogs scaring children, eating fresh baked loaves of bread (who could blame them?), etc. So please, even though the vendors will be lined up in the leash-only area of the Park, we need you to respect the Market space as a dog-free zone.

Many thanks to Katherine Dyer, the WFM Manager, for her brilliant idea to move onto the grass and of course, to our own Stuart McCarthy for so readily walking the property with us and figuring out how best to try this!

    See everyone on Sunday!
