The book offers a distinctive examination of the attributes that lead to outstanding personal achievement.
Among the factors that Bartiromo, anchor of CNBC’s “Closing Bell” and “The Wall Street Journal Report,” stressed are a focus on what is really important in life, self-knowledge, humility and adaptability.
She cited examples of these traits gleaned from interviews with famous achievers in several fields.
When asked how she became interested in economics and finance, Bartiromo credited her mother’s influence.
She told a story about how when she was a small child and asked for an ice cream cone, her mother said, “Yes, you may have a cone, but how are you going to pay for it?” ![]()

This attitude of assuming financial responsibility was instilled in her at an early age, she said.
Her first job was working as a hat check girl at her family restaurant.
Although the country is currently going through a difficult period, Bartiromo remains optimistic about the future.
She expressed great faith in American enterprise and spirit of innovation.
