Wendy Van Wie, who owns the house at 188 Cross Highway with Mark Yurkiw, points to an indentation in the front door that records say was caused by a British-fired musket ball. The house, which received a Westport Historical Society (WHS) historic plaque, was built c.1728 by Samuel Meeker and remained in the Meeker family for five generations until 1917, according to Bob Weingarten, WHS plaque historian.
