The match at Trumbull went to a fourth game, which Staples dominated with a score of 25-14. They had won the first game, lost the second, clinched the third and then completely controlled the fourth.

All of the assists were made by setters Austin Seigert and Peter Hlawitschka.
Staples junior Max Shelman, playing the red-shirted libero position, contributed to a spectacular defense, digging and diving for many hits and serves.
The Wreckers, who defeated the Eagles last year in both the FCIAC championship and the Class L semifinals, handed Trumbull its first defeat of the season. The Eagles fell to 6-1.
The Wreckers next take on Bridgeport’s Bassick High School at home at 4 p.m. Friday.
