Staples Soccer Ends Ridgefield Win Streak

The Staples boys soccer team today executed its game plan perfectly at Ridgefield. The Tigers had won nine straight games, and led the FCIAC standings. But led by a stellar defense, the Wreckers tied them 0-0 —- the first time the northerners failed to score in a month. Chris Martenson, Ryan Fincher, Nick Ambrose and Gabe Baltierra keyed the defenders. Ry Cohen earned the shutout in goal. Staples —- now 6-4-3 -— hosts Fairfield Ludlowe on Monday at 4 p.m. in a crucial FCIAC contest. In the photo, Fincher (23) plays a ball out of the back.
