The faces tell the story as Staples Coach Marce Petroccio gathers his team together after a 28-21 overtime heartbreaking loss to Cheshire in the Class LL championship at West Haven. Staples overcame a 21-7 halftime deficit to tie it 21-21 with two TDs in the fourth quarter. But Cheshire went ahead 28-21 in overtime and a fumble by Wrecker Matt Kelly on a hand off with Luke Scinto picking it up sealed the win for the Rams. See CT Post story here. Congratulations to the Wreckers on a memorable season. While you ended up one game short of your ultimate goal, the last four games were the most exciting in my 25 years as a Westport resident and ardent fan. The team made a statement in our first season as a LL playoff team, and I look forward to watching you hoist the championship trophy in the near future. Go Wreckers!
What a fantastic season and ride..you made Westport proud
