The Staples High School Lady Wreckers soccer team today won a 3-2 thriller against the Darien Blue Wave at Loeffler Field.
The win puts Staples one game over .500 for the season as the stretch run for the FCIAC tournament and state tournament begins.
Staples goals were by Jaclyn Katz (2) and Kate Burke.
Interim Head Coach Chris Meinke was thrilled with the result. “I’m looking forward to a great week of practice as we prepare for New Canaan next Monday,” he said.
“The New Canaan game will go a long way in determining our fate in both the FCAIAC tournament and the state tournament. The girls worked hard today and got a good result with their first win over Darien in several years.”
The New Canaan game will be at Loeffler Field at 4 p.m on Monday.
