Westport’s Staples High School today honored the 134 seniors who participated in the school’s 2009 internship program. They worked at 96 internship sites compared to 2008, the first year of the program, when there were 48 interns at 41 sites. Jacob Sumberg who interned at Bobby Q’s Restaurant, told the audience of his very positive experiences that won him an offer of a full time position for the summer before entering Champlain College in the fall. Sumberg spoke before reporting to Westport EMS where he volunteers. Listening are Joyce Eldh, program administrator, and Principal John Dodig. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com

A Staples senior whose name I believe was Julie interned at
Earthplace. On the day that I volunteer there I spent an afternoon with her. She was enthusiastic, very helpful and bright. A true delight.

I echo the kudos to Joyce Eldh. It’s hard to imagine how this program could have happened without her energy and commitment. Thank you Joyce!

Although I was unable to attend today’s Intern Reception,
I would like to salute both the foresight and the tenacity of
Intern Program creator and administrator Joyce Eldh.
Coleytown Middle School’s Computer/Media Department was lucky enough to have three interns supporting our Computer Classes and our Video Production activities. Our “Three Amigos”—Ariana Sigel, Amanda Lacey and Evan Bowden—were fun, flexible, bright, creative and
hard working. They added value to our classes, our program, our students and our staff.
Bravo, kids! Bravo, Joyce! Bravo, Staples!
If you haven’t considered hosting an intern, do.
Can’t wait for next year!
if you ever want anything accomplished on your committee or anything else in life just ask joycie to be a part of it. there is no one like her and never will be! She is just the best—the absolute best.
