Staples Boys Cross Country Team Advances

The Staples Boys’ Cross Country Team today advanced to the New Englands, placing fifth overall at the CIAC State Open Championships in a field of 205 runners. It was a phenomenal finish in spite of the loss of two top senior runners due to illness. Senior Morgan Fierro (r) finished fifth overall, earning all state honor and the strong finishes of Dillon Harding (Junior), George Lepska (Junior), Zach Taubman (Sophomore) and Max Sod (Junior) enabled the team to achieve fifth place and qualify for the New England Championships next Saturday at Wickham Park, Manchester. The Staples Girl’s Cross Country Team was represented by Tori Greenberg (senior) finishing 26 of 180 runners, missing qualifying for New England’s by one spot and Josie Dolan (sophomore) also ran and finished in the top third of the field.
