Staples Girls Basketball Season Ends With 74-49 Loss

Staples forward Nicole Bukovsky is blocked by a Career Magnet player during tonight’s 74-49 Wrecker loss to the Panthers in the second round of the Class LL championship in New Haven. Career, the No. 4 seed and defending Class LL state champion, started off strong, and 20th-seeded Staples did what it could to keep within distance during the first half. In the third quarter, Erica Stein stringed together several three-pointers to get as close as nine points, but in the end Career ran away with the game. It was the final game in a Staples uniform for seniors Jessica Cohelo, Remy Nolan, and injured Syd Houseworth. Coelho scored 23 points and Stein added 11.
