Staples Freshman Wins Rotary Speech Contest

Jacob Meisel, a 14-year-old freshman at Staples High School, today won a speech contest sponsored by Westport’s two Rotary Clubs at Westport Town Hall. He competed against two other Staples students, each of whom had to integrate the Rotary Four-Way Questions into their remarks. The questions ask: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned? Meisel, who won a $500,check, spoke about climate control. He advances to the semifinal round Jan. 24 at Fairfield University. Runners up were seniors Maddie Kurtz and Catherine Coughlin. See the full Rotary video here.  WestportNow.com video
