Staples Boys tennis today edged Greenwich 4-3 to remain unbeaten and advance to FCIAC finals for the fifth straight season. Greenwich had beaten Staples in the FCIAC championship match each of the last three seasons. Staples has been runner-up nine times since last winning FCIACs in 2001 (although Staples did edge Greenwich for the State Class LL championship in 2011 which is non-match play format). Greenwich had won the FCIACs 11 of the previous 12 seasons since 2001. With the match deadlocked 3-3, the second doubles team of seniors Baxter Stein and Chaskin prevailed 6-4, 6-4 to clinch the match.
