The Wreckers pressed early and hard. They were rewarded midway through the first half. Nate Argosh beat his defender and fed Michael Reid. The midfielder turned and delivered a perfect through ball to Patrick Beusse, who roared forward to finish well.
Staples’s second score came six minutes after intermission. Andrew Puchala found Gabe Pensak. His strong, long shot caromed off the inside of the goal post, but Reid was there to blast a first-time shot in.
The blue-and-whites had a balanced attack, with Denzel Robinson, Daniel Perez Elorza, Graham Gudis, Luca Cocito and Sebastian Wick adding firepower to the work of Reid, Beusse and Argosh. The defense was led by Pensak Puchala, Kenji Goto and Spencer Daniels while Noah Schwaeber got the shutout in goal.
Staples returns to action Thursday (home, 4:30 p.m.), versus Wilton.
