Staples Boys Soccer Stops New Canaan, Earns FCIAC Playoff Berth Image
With a 3-1 win at New Canaan today, the Staples High School boys soccer team clinched an FCIAC playoff berth. It is the 12th straight league playoff appearance for the Wreckers. They will be shooting for their 28th title in 61 years. Goals today came from Patricio Perez Elorza (off a great give-and-go with Murilo Moreno), Benny Feuer (off Perez Elorza’s corner kick, redirected first by Emerson Anvari), and Alan Fiore (after winning a tackle near midfield). Staples, now 8-4-3, closes out the regular season on Monday. Wilton comes to town, for a 4 p.m. match. Pictured: Alan Fiore had an excellent match for Staples, both defensively and offensively.
