Staples Boys Soccer Scores Another Shutout

Nick DiMasi’s 25-yard rocket made the difference today as the Staples boys soccer team shut out a strong Westhill team 1-0. DiMasi’s first-half blast came off a nifty give-and-go with Vaughan Sealey. The Wrecker defense of Rob Diorio, Nick Ambrose, Surya Balaji and Patricio Perez Elorza combined with keeper Ry Cohen for the clean sheet. Matthew Tanzer was the man of the match at midfield. Staples, now 6-2-2, travels to Stamford on Monday (4 p.m.). Pictured: DiMasi (12) celebrates his goal with Tanzer. Austin Sholes and Diorio race over to join them.
