 | The Staples boys soccer team today put the first blemish on Greenwich’s perfect (7-0-0) record. The Wreckers battled to a tough 0-0 draw at Cardinal Stadium, becoming the only team to get a point in the standings from the state’s top-ranked team. Staples was aided by excellent defense by Matteo Broccolo (shown above), Chris Martenson, Sam Kantor and Teddy Lawrence. Keeper Ziggy Hallgarten made two outstanding saves, while Anton Mahr, Tyler Wright and Spencer Daniels pressured well up top. The Wreckers, now 2-2-3, face St. Joseph away on Wednesday, at 4 p.m. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Armelle Daniels for WestportNow.com |
