Staples Boys Soccer Edges Norwalk

Evan Birns (9) leaps high, and his Staples High School soccer teammates rush to congratulate him today after scoring against Norwalk. Birns’s goal was all the Wreckers needed to edge the Bears 1-0 in a hard-fought battle at Loeffler Field. Excellent midfield play, smart defense and two excellent saves by keeper Reed Caney aided the effort. Staples is now 3-1-0, and travels to Trumbull for a 5:30 p.m. contest on Tuesday.
