Staples Boys Soccer Earns 1-1 Tie With Norwalk

Austin Sholes’ power header off Vaughan Sealey’s corner kick staked the Staples boys soccer team to a second half lead at Norwalk tonight. But the Bears – like the Wreckers, one of the top teams in the FCIAC – equalized 14 minutes later. The Bears poured on pressure, but Staples’ defense – and heroic keeper Ry Cohen – stood firm. The 1-1 draw gives Staples a 4-2-2 record, as they head into the second half of the regular season. On Monday they host Brien McMahon, in a 4 p.m. start.
