Westport school officials will see the first results of a survey of special education parents during the Board of Education meeting Monday night.

Schools Superintendent Elliott Landon said representatives from Glen Martin Associates, the firm that completed the survey, will be on hand to make a presentation.

The board meets at 8 p.m. at Bedford Middle School.

Landon said the results will not be available to anyone—including the board and himself—before the meeting.

“I don’t know what (the survey results) will say,” he said. “I am confident, though, because I know what we offer. We offer more special education services than anyone else.”

Once the board receives the report, he said, it will have to review it and determine a course of action.

That action, Landon said, will be determined by the results.

The board will have to do one thing if the results are negative, he said, but they will do other things if it is mostly positive.

School officials hired Glen Martin Associates to survey about 1,000 special education parents in order to look for ways to improve the special education system.
