The National Weather Service in Upton, N.Y. tonight issued the following special weather statement for Westport and area:
The combination of plummeting temperatures and light snow will make for dangerous driving conditions tonight. Up to an inch of snow is possible where the steadier snow bands develop.
More importantly, any moisture on untreated roadways will quickly freeze by around midnight. Motorists are advised to take it slow and be prepared for icy conditions particularly on side roads.
Please exercise extreme caution if traveling tonight.
