Mr. Raho, That’s ok because the Continental Army didn’t have uniforms at first either.
About 100 protesters, sponsored by MoveOn.org, were having a rally supporting health care reform when an Obama health care supporter bit off a 65-year-old man’s finger Wednesday evening in Thousand Oaks Ca, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
Yeah…I’ll wait for Nancy Pelosi and the MSM to condemn this act and the astroturf group Moveon.org…crickets…chirp…chirp..

Oops…I hope the finger-biter has liability insurance and the fingeree, medical insurance.
‘Twas a sad affair. Lots of venting, but very little talk about the actual issues that affect us all.
I worry that we will continue to be led around by the nose, yelling in frustration and waving signs for the cameras, rather than being honest about our fears—well founded, on both sides—and trying to find common ground.
At present we have chosen to externalize costs while allowing companies (people) to make money on the process. If this is what the country wants, so be it, but let’s admit that’s what we’re doing so we can have a real discussion instead of using health care as a proxy for the shibboleth of the decade, “freedom.”
See those purple stickers on their chest, see those other stickers on the other side of their chest that are pre-printed and say “health care now ‘09”, see that placard under the woman’s arm on the right. Well there were many of those proponents of Obama care who were organized contradictory to what Larry Untermeyer says in the related story. The opponents of Obama care had no such pre-made signage or stickers. So no matter what someone says, the evidence is clear!
Who’s astroturf Nancy Pelosi? Where’s the media now to point out this blatant hypocrisy? We were accused with NO evidence, yet theirs is front and center!
And Larry I still like your photo contributions.
Calm discussions will change no one’s mind in this debate. Low approval ratings will. Unless Jim Himes feels that he will lose his seat next year, he will dance with the current administration.
Tort Reform, interstate insurance competition and less regulation will get costs down. Add a health care savings account.
There are 30 million people who don’t have insurance that
could afford it.
The HIPPA act enacted by congress in 1996 is one of the
course of increasing health care costs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_Insurance_Portability_and_Accountability_Act
This Health care bill will not lower costs and improve health care. What government run program has reduced costs and improved services.
We already have the best health care program in the world, let’s make it better not worse. If the congress members don’t want it for themselves why should we.
Unfortunately, a health care savings account, even with all the tort reform and competition and deregulation in the world, wouldn’t have touched my daughter’s chemo—2-1/2 years of it—and surgeries. We were fortunate to have had good coverage through my husband’s job. (And I do mean fortunate. I do not believe that our college educations—available to us thanks to the hard work of our parents, and their parents—entitle us to better treatment than other, less well-off, Americans.)
Were we to go through the ordeal today, our out-of-pocket costs would be much higher—and our current coverage is much more expensive to begin with. In the meantime, my child’s oncologist has to work ridiculously hard to get paid the negotiated rates. I’d rather he spent that time fighting for his patients’ health.
I’m hopeful that we can rise above politics and use our differing viewpoints to come up with a way to ensure that we ALL get good quality, affordable healthcare. The fear I live in (that my daughter will be uninsurable as an adult, that my son will not be able to pay back the loans he’ll need to go to medical school) sure doesn’t feel like freedom to me.
