The Westport Planning & Zoning Commission today announced a Thursday, Jan. 21 field trip to inspect the site of a proposed affordable housing development at 122 Wilton Road, across from Willows Medical complex.

As first reported by WestportNow in November (see WestportNow Nov. 10, 2015) the proposal includes 48 units housed in a 64-foot building on the 1.16-acre lot as well as an alternate schematic with a 44-foot building and underground parking.
Stamford-based Garden Homes Management Inc. is in the contract stage for purchase of the property, according to town officials.
According to today’s announcement, the P&Z will consider a CAM (Coastal Area Management) Site Plan application for an 8-30g application for the project. The field trip is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. at the site, said P&Z Director Larry Bradley, who added the project is on the Jan. 21 P&Z meeting agenda.
The controversial 8-30g affordable housing state statute lets developers override zoning regulations if a town does not have 10 percent of its housing stock deemed affordable, which Westport does not.
