UPDATE Westport’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM) early today rejected an appeal by residents seeking to overturn a Planning and Zoning Commission decision that would permit some form of lighting at town-owned athletic fields. Opponents of the decision needed 24 votes to overturn but only 16 members voted to overturn while 17 voted to sustain the P&Z action. The vote came at 12:49 a.m. Residents opposed to lights at Staples High School have already filed a lawsuit against the P&Z decision. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) WestportNow.com photo

I would like to know how the members voted but, unfortunately, the minutes for the RTM on the town’s website have only been updated as of May. It’s a shame we can’t receive more up to date information on how our representative’s are voting.
Mr. Loffredo – The interest is in HOW each member voted, rather than how MANY.
I’d be curious in what areas the town has economized on its current carbon footprint to offset the energy these lights will utilize.
The solar panels at the fire station and the plastic bag ban must be a bigger contribution than first thought!
Maybe it’s me, but it seems we’re going backwards here in our community effort to thwart “Global Warming” no?
But we are going forward in terms of community spirit!
As people are asking, I voted not to overturn the P&Z;‘s action.
John McCarthy
RTM District 9
Oh, I see the story below this one has the list of how people voted. Never mind.
That’s ok John, the “how they voted” info wasn’t there before – and your efforts to be forthcoming with your vote are appreciated
