In the first half of 2013, there were 211 single family homes reported as closed through our MLS. Let’s put that in perspective—last year, the same time period yielded 167 sales. That’s a 26 percent jump year-over-year.
In 2009, for example, there were only 250 sales reported from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31. Our first half of the year unit sale figures are over 84 percent of what the annual sales were just four years ago.
Looking back to when the market was still good in 2006, there were 400 sales reported throughout the year, and we may match that, or surpass it in 2013.
Total sales volume is up almost $100 million for the first half of the year from 2012, and the average sales price is up, too, by just over $131, 000.
The weather is heating up, and the market is still hot. The bottom of the market has come and gone, and interest rates are creeping up, but we are not expecting anything to dramatically change anytime soon barring any unforeseen financial crisis.
