Putting Out Dumpster Fire

Westport firefighters today extinguished a dumpster fire on Sherwood Farms Lane. The dumpster was in close proximity, but the house was not involved. Firefighters determined it was sawdust from floor sanding on the exterior of the dumpster that spontaneously combusted. The department reminded residents and contractors of the dangers involved from the byproducts of hardwood floor refinishing and the need for proper disposal.
