President Honors Frank Deford at White House

Author and commentator Frank Deford, a 39-year Westport resident before moving to Manhattan last month, gets a National Humanities Medal from President Obama in the White House East Room on Wednesday. According to the National Endowment for the Arts, Deford, the author of 10 novels, eight nonfiction books and thousands of articles, many of them sports pieces, was picked “for transforming how we think about sports.” He told WestportNow last week he was “stunned” when he learned of the honor.
