Open for Business

Westport shoppers took advantage today of the option to purchase beer, wine and other spirits on the first holiday Sunday in Connecticut since the state’s Sunday sales ban was recently lifted. An employees at Castle Wine and Spirits, 1439 Post Road East, said, “My gut feeling is that customer activity on Saturday was less than other Memorial Day weekends because people could spread out their purchases over Saturday and Sunday for the holiday weekend.” Castle, whose Sunday hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., was also open for business last Sunday.
