That sign made my day. The O’Sheas have a lovely house on a great location.
Thank you, O’Sheas!
And a big thank you, too, to the folks who own the old farmhouse on the east side of South Compo Road a bit south of Park Lane. Instead of tearing down the building, they have expanded it with architectural thoughtfulness and now are trimming and painting the exterior in a style appropriate to the house.
Our daughter is now an O’Shea (but living in NJ) and I just love these O’Sheas for renovating this wonderful home at 162 Greens Farms Road. It’s hard to believe that anyone else would have considered tearing it down. Thanks, O’Sheas! And it was a great idea to put the sign out front.
Good for the O’Sheas and good for Westport. We’ve taken on a few of these extensive renovations of older homes, and in fact, are in the late stages of redoing a similar home now. They invariably take longer and cost more than expected…and never seem to be “finished” (“I wonder what’s behind all that paint?” “Wouldn’t a rose arbor be nice over there”, etc.)! However, they’re also enormously rewarding and you end up with a unique house with great soul and character that continues to evolve over time. Bravo!
I love the sign, I love the house, and I love the owners for putting in the hard work to make this gem even better. Cheers!
How about ‘NOT a Teardown’ as the next recurring WestportNOW feature?!
Way to go O’Shea’s! You said you were going to put up the sign and I’m glad to see you did. I can’t wait to see the finished project with all your creative style!
Hope Westport Now will show us the completed renovation. Congratulations to the new owners for preserving a fine old house.
I agree with John and also with what Carrie is getting at…I know this will take some time, but how about a feature of spledid historic homes that are still standing and have been maintained. Look at some of the homes on Beachside, Roseville and my favorite, although overpriced, the Hokanum estate on Cross Highway. That is an amazing home, built in the 1700s and simply beautiful.
I know the O’Sheas, and every house project they have taken on has become a masterpiece.
Thank you Steve and Jill for preserving another piece of Westport history, I know you’ll do it with class. (And I can’t wait to come snoop!)

Congratulations O’Sheas!!
I too renovated a “big old house” and spent more than a lot of people would spend to build a “new” one. I preserved “this old house” and brought it back to what is was built to be…a replica of a piece of history.
Thank you again for preserving a piece of Westport’s history!
