New Canaan edged Staples 1-0 today, handing the Wreckers boys soccer team its first loss of the season.
Playing their sixth game in 12 days took its toll, and New Canaan capitalized with a goal in the 25th minute.
The Wreckers caught fire in the second half, and nearly equalized on a breakaway by Tim Day with 10 minutes remaining, but the Rams made the lone tally stand up.
Staples, now 5-1-1, returns to action Tuesday at Wilton High School at 4 p.m.
