On Saturday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m., with seven additional years of practice under her belt, the 14-year-old freshman at Westport’s Staples High School will give another concert—at the Steinway Piano Gallery on Post Road East. And this time the classical selections won’t be nursery rhymes.
All proceeds will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of Sidney Ball, Rachael’s great grandfather who had a huge influence on her young life.
Over the years, Rachael has participated in numerous camps and music programs. She studies with Tatiana Goncharova at the Manhattan School of Music where she will attend the pre-college program in the fall.
This summer she goes to the Greenwood Music Camp where she will be “submerged” in chamber music for five weeks.
Reservations are required for the June 20 concert with the suggested donation of $20 for adults, $15 for students. Donations must be made in advance and will not be collected at the door.
To make a reservation, send a check made out to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to: Rachael Shapiro, 27 Park Lane, Westport, CT 06880 amd indicate the number of attendees and e-mail address for confirmation.
