Moment of Silence for Staples Marine and Newtowners

Prior to today’s Staples High School varsity lacrosse game against Newtown High School, Staples lacrosse coach Matt Johnson requested a moment of silence. The pause was to honor the memory of the late Roger W. Muchnick, Jr, a Marine and former Staples lacrosse player who was fatally injured in a training exercise on March 18 in Nevada, and the families of the Newtown shooting victims. The helmet for each Staples player bore an emblem in honor of Muchnick and the Newtown community. Staples defeated Newtown 13-2 with Will Johnson and Colin Bannon leading the Wreckers with four goals each. (CLICK TO ENLARGE) Dave Matlow for WestportNow.com
