Board of Education Chair Marjorie Cion (c) announced her resignation tonight to take a position as executive assistant to Superintendent Elliott Landon (r). Cion, a Democrat who was elected to the board in 2005 and took over as chair a year ago, said her decision was “one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made, but I am doing it for my family and I have no doubt it is the right thing to do.” James Marpe (l), the Republican vice chair, will take over until a new Democrat is appointed and the board elects a permanent chair.
