In a Staples High School field house ceremony today, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy formalized at the Staples the signing of a concussion law that had been unanimously approved by the state legislature in the spring. The act, concerning youth athletics and concussions, was initiated by three Westport women whose sons were victims of sports-related concussions. Westport parents Diana Coyne, Pippa Bell Ader and Ann Sherwood, founders of the Parents Concussion Coalition, were on hand after working for two years to update the state’s concussion law and bring it to the basic current standards of practice.
