Making a Strong Showing

Westporters Bill Walker and Allan Stern finished strong (12th) in this weekend’s Cedar Point Yacht Club’s annual OneDesign Regatta. It is being held for the first time over two weekends. Boats under 26 feet overall raced this weekend, and boats 26 feet and longer will race May 30-31. The regatta, one of the largest on Long Island Sound, is a joint effort by Cedar Point’s Cruising Class, Lightning, and J/70 racing fleets, and has become a regional and national showcase for top-level Westport sailboat racing.  International sailing champion Ched Proctor of Westport’s CPYC finished second in the other class racing this weekend, Lightnings.
